Am Alten Brauhaus is the ideal base for exploring Monschau, the pearl of the German Eifel region. This 10-person holiday home is located near the centre, at the foot of a mountain and on the banks of the Ruhr river. Some of the things that make Monschau special are its maze of small streets, the authentic half-timbered houses on the mountainside and the historic town centre that has hardly changed in the past 300 years. For Gerard and Mariolein from Limburg it was love at first sight when they visited this place. They started dreaming of starting a holiday home here. Therefore they bought an imposing building from 1790 in which they created two cosy holiday homes - Am Alten Brauhaus and the 2-person Am Laufenbach. Am Alten Brauhaus is located in the central part of the building, a former cowshed.
Let's take a look inside
The welcoming sitting area of the home invites you to get comfortable around the wood-burning stove or the long dining table. Thanks to the fully equipped kitchen you also have the option of preparing a sumptuous meal. A 4-burner induction hob, convection oven, microwave, two fridge-freezers, a Senseo coffee machine, regular coffee machine, kettle and dishwasher - it's all there. The kitchen adjoins a nice dining area with a round dining table and decorative pellet stove (not suitable for use). On the first floor there are two spacious, luxurious bedrooms which are both equipped with box-spring beds and a seat to enjoy the beautiful view. Both bedrooms also have their own bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet. On the second floor you will find three more double bedrooms - one with an ensuite bathroom and two with a shared bathroom.
Outdoor space
Am Alten Brauhaus has a gorgeous, spacious terrace to the rear, surrounded by the rocky walls of Monschau. If you want to explore the natural surroundings, simply turn to the right as you exit the holiday home. You can then walk straight into the great outdoors along the Ruhr. If you’d rather soak up the atmosphere of the town, turn left – the historic city centre is just a five-minute walk.
