The 24-person holiday home "Huys Kaldenbroek" is a beautiful medieval country house situated between an old ruin, meadows, orchards and forests in Lottum, the rose village of the Netherlands. Here you will have the feeling you are on a stately French estate. In this fairytale-like place you can completely relax without having to think about anything.
Huys Kaldenbroek - Then and now
The Kaldenbroek country house dates to the 14th century and has, over the centuries, been altered several times. Initially, the property had a classical layout with a forecourt, main house, and farmhouse. The whole was surrounded by a moat, of which some parts are still visible. Waterfowl and frogs can often be spotted at the site of the moat. An interesting detail is that Huys Kaldenbroek is the most northern situated building in the Netherlands with walls partly made of marl. In 2006 the estate was taken over by the Limburg Landscape Foundation, which created a holiday home, a detached country house, two private homes and a business space for yoga groups and business meetings.
Let’s take a look inside
You can enter the building through the antique front door on the right. After entering, you will find yourself in the small entrance hall which gives access to the living area. The high, vaulted ceiling and large windows make the living space feel very light and spacious. The two large dining tables are big enough for extensive dining. Turn on the woodstove for an extra cosy atmosphere. A second living room is situated in the left part of the building. It features a large corner sofa, flatscreen TV and a number of armchairs. The spacious kitchen with its wooden cabinets and blue stone top is equipped with all conveniences such as a 5-burner stove, large convection oven, microwave, 2 refrigerators, freezer with 3 drawers (in a wall cabinet), professional dishwasher, coffee machine and Nespresso coffee machine. The house has a total of twelve (double) bedrooms and eleven bathrooms, including two bedrooms and three bathrooms on the ground floor. All bedrooms are equipped with luxury single box-spring beds.
Outdoor area
The house is surrounded by a large garden: enjoy the tranquility, nature and the view here. In the general courtyard there are also several nice sitting areas: the bench under the chestnut tree, the benches near the hall and the bench of ''Bart'' among the palm trees. You can also use two nice terraces: one adjacent to the kitchen and one adjacent to the back door. For the little ones there is a playground and for the older ones there is a ping pong table. Due to its location, this venue is not suitable for parties and/or youth groups.
