‘Koningshof de Korenbloem’ is an attractive, 10-person holiday home located on the edge of Montfort in the Rozendaal nature reserve. Stretching between Roermond and Maastricht, this gorgeous nature reserve has been under the protection of the ‘Stichting het Limburgs Landschap’ – a foundation that protects Limburg’s natural heritage and monuments – since 1970. The foundation also acquired a couple of centuries-old farmsteads in this nature reserve, including the ‘Koningshof’ farmhouse. In 2013, ‘De Koningshof’ was completely restored and converted into two holiday homes: ‘Koningshof de Klaproos’ and ‘Koningshof de Korenbloem’. These holiday homes offer comfort, space, and tranquillity.
Origin of the name ‘Koningshof de Korenbloem’
The farmhouse is called ‘Koningshof’ (king’s court) because the former inhabitants of this farmstead were always protected by the king, who lived in the nearby 13th-century Kasteel Montfort (Montfort castle). The impressive castle ruins of Kasteel Montfort are open to visitors. The name ‘Korenbloem’ (cornflower) was chosen because the holiday home is surrounded by colourful plants and flowers, especially cornflowers, from May to July.
Let’s take a look inside
You enter into a spacious hall that leads to the large, light living area. The Limburg tiled floor, the clay walls and the wooden rafters give the living area an authentic look. A nice detail is that you’ll spot cornflowers in several places. Relax on one of the two leather sofas by the wood-burning stove or take a seat at the wooden dining table. The only thing that’s missing is a delicious meal. This can be prepared in the well-equipped, open kitchen with stunning burgundy red wall tiles and blue stone countertop. The kitchen is equipped with all conveniences such as a dishwasher, 5-burner ceramic hob, oven, microwave, large fridge, freezer, coffee machine and kettle.
Spread over the ground floor and first floor, there are also five bedrooms and six bathrooms. The bedrooms have a warm feel thanks to their wooden floors and clay-coloured walls. They are also equipped with luxury single box-spring beds. The first bedroom, which offers wonderful meadow views, is situated on the ground floor. Also on the ground floor are two bathrooms with walk-in rain shower, washbasin and toilet. The staircase in the hallway leads to the first floor. Here you’ll find four inviting double bedrooms, each with a private bathroom equipped with a walk-in rain shower, sink and toilet.
Outdoor space
The garden doors in the living area lead onto the large private garden and terrace, both of which are south-west facing and offer a spectacular view of the surrounding fields and orchards. With no other buildings in the vicinity, you can truly enjoy nature and spending time with each other in peace and quiet. There is plenty of room for children to play, as well as a swing set and a covered table tennis table (both shared with guests of ‘de Klaproos’).
Larger group?
Is the Korenbloem a bit too small for your group? Then you can choose to additionally book the Klaproos holiday home (at a reduced rate). There is also the option to book a meeting/event room. Just contact us for more information.
