The completely renovated holiday home Hoes an d'r Gullep is located in a beautiful designated quiet area in the hamlet of Pesaken. This holiday home owes its name to the river de Gulp, which literally flows through the back garden. The large, park-like garden offers plenty of peace and space to relax and enjoy nature.
Then and now
Hoes an d'r Gullep is part of one of Pesakan’s three national monuments, a centuries-old half-timbered farmhouse. Despite the fact that most of the half-timbered farmhouses have been demolished in the last few centuries, this little gem has fortunately been preserved. In the 1970s, the farmhouse was completely restored and got a new layout. A holiday home was created in the right wing of the farmhouse and the left wing is home to the current owners Ellen and Jos. The holiday home, which was given a new interior in 2020, has its own terrace and part of the garden.
Let’s take a look inside
The entrance is at the front of the property. You enter into a little hall with a separate toilet. Via a small staircase in the kitchen you head up to the living room, where part of the original half-timbering is still visible. With its comfortable sofas, large TV and charming fireplace, the living room is the ideal place to relax, read a book or watch a gripping film. The country kitchen with its cream-coloured wooden cabinets, granite worktop and retro tap is not only a beautiful sight, but it is also equipped with all conveniences such as a dishwasher, 4-burner induction hob, combi microwave, Nespresso machine, coffee machine and all the kitchen utensils you need to cook to your heart's content. The long wooden dining table has plenty of space for dinner parties and playing board games.
On the first floor there are three double bedrooms, all equipped with luxurious, connected single box-spring beds. The first bedroom is located at the back of the house and offers views of the beautiful garden. This room also has a private bathroom with walk-in shower and washbasin. Via the small landing you come to the second and third bedroom. The second bedroom offers meadow views and has a private bathroom with walk-in shower, washbasin and toilet. The third bedroom is wonderfully spacious and offers views on both sides. Next to this bedroom there is a bathroom with a bath, walk-in shower and double washbasin. Via the stairs in the third bedroom you reach the attic. Here there is extra sleeping space for two people and you will also find two cots (suitable for children up to three years). This means you could book this holiday home for eight adults and two little-ones.
Outdoor space
At the back of the house there is a lovely private terrace that offers a lot of seclusion and a beautiful view. You also have access to part of the large, park-like garden that includes a freshwater pond and even a section of the Gulp river. During breakfast on the terrace or at the picnic table, you might spot a kingfisher or other kinds of animals. You can also enjoy the views over the neighbouring sheep pasture. What more could you want? The children have plenty of space to run around and can play in the wooden playhouse.
The area
We definitely recommend going and exploring the beautiful surroundings. The region is a real paradise for hikers and bike lovers. Bicycles can be stored in the locked storage room located next to the house. Will you be arriving by car? Then pay a visit to the bustling cities of Maastricht, Aachen, Cologne or Liege while you're here. The area also offers various fun family outings, such as the Fairytale Forest in Valkenburg, the GaiaZoo in Kerkrade or 'Labyrint Drielandenpunt'.
