Then and now
The Stadsloft is part of a national monument, a former water mill called De Reek. In 1957, the well-known Limburg artist Charles Eyck decided to largely rebuild the then dilapidated mill. In the new building he created a unique art studio. Later, this art studio was seamlessly converted into a holiday home. Inside you will still find many of the old elements, such as parts of the historic city wall. These elements blend in beautifully with the luxurious, modern interior finish. Since December 2019, this special accommodation has been in the hands of the new proud owners, Frank and Marjan.
Let’s take a look inside
On the ground floor is the living area with a comfortable seating area, a modern open kitchen, and a cozy wood stove. And thanks to the underfloor heating you will always have lovely warm feet too. Stadsloft Maastricht has various modern features, such as a bluetooth speaker, fast WiFi and a flatscreen television with a wide range of channels. The kitchen is equipped with all conveniences such as a 4-burner induction hob, combi microwave, fridge-freezer and dishwasher. So you always have the option to stay at home for an evening and prepare a delicious meal yourself. The open staircase leads to the upper floor. Here you will find a modern bathroom with washbasin and spacious walk-in shower, as well as a double bedroom. The sofa in the living area can also be pulled out and turned into a second double bed.
The area
Stadsloft Maastricht is located on Heksenstraat, near the city park. In this quiet spot you will only hear the rippling of the river Jeker and the muted sounds of the adjacent music school. Within a few minutes’ walk, you are in the bustling centre of Maastricht with its many lively outdoor bars and renowned restaurants. In July 2022, you can catch a concert by André Rieu at the Vrijthof, just 600 metres from Stadsloft Maastricht.
