A gen Dijck is the former home of the Beaujean family and the very first holiday home rented out by Beaujean Vacances. Built in the seventeenth century, this beautiful, half-timbered house is authentic as can be and a protected national monument. A gen Dijck is located on the edge of the quaint village of Mechelen, in the hilly landscape of South Limburg.
Take a look inside
You enter the house as is typical in Limburg – through the back door. In the hall awaits your first surprise: a small infrared sauna. When you walk on to the nostalgic kitchen, you will wonder: what is crooked here? The floor? The half-timbered walls? Well, the windows for sure! Over time, the house has sagged a bit, making this place even more special. The kitchen is equipped with all modern conveniences including a 6-burner hob, oven, microwave, fridge, kettle, coffee machine and dishwasher. You will also find everything you need to cook and serve a festive meal. Such a meal can be enjoyed all together at the two long dining tables. Also on the ground floor is the living room. Here you will find a cosy sitting area with fireplace and comfy couches and a second sitting area with wicker chairs. The living room also offers a great view of the meadows with grazing horses.
The stairs in the hall lead to the first and second floor. On the first floor you will find three double bedrooms, one quad room and two bathrooms. On the second floor there are three double bedrooms and one bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Throughout the entire house you will spot authentic elements, for example the original floor tiles, built-in cupboards, red shutters, old beams, spiral staircase and the tiny window on the landing.
Outdoor space
At the back of the house you have a lovely, covered terrace and a garden with sun loungers and swings. Here you can relax, have a picnic and enjoy the natural surroundings.
