Come and enjoy a restful break in the company of your friends and family at the luxury holiday home ‘De Frankenhofmolen’. This particular holiday home, owned by the foundation protecting Limburg’s natural heritage and monuments ‘Stichting Het Limburgs Landschap’, is extremely popular with our guests, as it is steeped in history and full of character. As soon as you proceed down the long driveway, you are surrounded by ancient trees, and you can then catch the first glimpse of the imposing windmill and its complex of outbuildings. You will be immediately amazed by the uniqueness of this location.
History of the property
Frankenhofmolen is an old watermill complex from 1736 that was used for various purposes. It once housed a spinning mill, a fulling mill and a woollen blanket factory. The property went through a lot: it was poorly maintained and severely hit by a fire twice. In 2007, when the building was about to collapse, it was bought by the foundation “Stichting het Limburgs Landschap”. This foundation did everything in its power to restore the Frankenhofmolen to its former state. By using ecological building materials and historical building techniques, the mill was sustainably restored.
Let's take a look inside
Frankenhofmolen Huys is located in the right wing of the mill complex. You enter the holiday home in the hall. From here, you have access to the cosy living room filled with lots of natural light. Sit back and relax on the big sofa, have a drink with your friends or watch a movie on the large flatscreen television. At the back of the holiday home you will find the kitchen, which is not only very beautiful, but also very functional. It is equipped with all conveniences such as a 6-burner ceramic hob, large oven, dishwasher, large fridge, freezer, microwave, coffee machine and kettle. Behind the kitchen is the dining room, where you will probably spend a lot of time. The tall windows allow a lot of natural light to enter this room. Moreover, the original wood-burning stove creates a nice, warm atmosphere. Enjoy an extensive diner all together at the long, wooden dining table. The entire ground floor is not only equipped with floor heating, but also with wall and even ceiling heating.
The Frankenhofmolen Huys property has five bedrooms and four bathrooms in total. The bedrooms are all airy and light and tastefully decorated, furnished with good-quality, single box-spring beds and traditional-style furniture. On the first floor, there are three double bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. One bathroom has a bath and double washbasin, walk-in shower, and free-standing bathtub. On the second floor, there is a large double bedroom with its own washbasin, as well as a bedroom which sleeps four with an en-suite bathroom with a shower, washbasin, and toilet. There are two additional toilets located on the ground floor and first floor.
Outdoor space
From the living room and the hall you have access to the enclosed garden and terrace on the east side of the complex. The terrace is a lovely place to sit in the sun and out of the wind. Moreover, it offers a beautiful view of the surrounding meadows. For children there is a playground with a swing.
