Come and enjoy a restful break in the company of your friends and family at the luxury holiday home ‘De Frankenhofmolen’. This particular holiday home, owned by the foundation protecting Limburg’s natural heritage and monuments ‘Stichting Het Limburgs Landschap’, is extremely popular with our guests, as it is steeped in history and full of character. As soon as you proceed down the long driveway, you are surrounded by ancient trees, and you can then catch the first glimpse of the imposing windmill and its complex of outbuildings. You will be immediately amazed by the uniqueness of this location.
Then and now
The Frankenhofmolen is an old watermill complex from 1736 that was used for various purposes. It once housed a spinning mill, a fulling mill and a woollen blanket factory. The property has been through a lot: it was poorly maintained and severely hit by a fire twice. In 2007, when the building was about to collapse, it was bought by the foundation “Stichting het Limburgs Landschap”. This foundation did everything in its power to restore the Frankenhofmolen to its former state. By using ecological building materials and historical building techniques, the mill was sustainably restored.
Let's take a look inside
At the front of the holiday home is a cosy sitting area filled with natural light, where you can sit back and relax on the sofa and chat with your friends and family. The pièce de résistance of the sitting area has to be the wood-burning stove. At the rear of the house are the dining room and the open-plan kitchen. The fully equipped kitchen has a 6-ring ceramic hob, large oven, dishwasher, large fridge, freezer, microwave, coffee machine, and kettle. The long dining table is ideal for dining with friends and family.
Frankenhofmolen Weverij has a total of seven double bedrooms. These tastefully decorated rooms have wooden floors, luxurious single box-spring beds and authentic furniture. Moreover, each bedroom has its own bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet. One of the bedrooms is located on the ground floor and is therefore very suitable for people who have mobility problems.
Outdoor space
On the west side of the complex you will find a lovely garden and terrace where you can sit sheltered and enjoy a beautiful view of the surrounding meadows.
