If you want to enjoy the Voer region and its surroundings with family or friends, this completely renovated, 18th-century holiday home is the place to do it!
The holiday home Het Wit Kruis is located in the heart of the Voer region, on Kinkenberg square in ‘s-Gravenvoeren and adjacent to the gently flowing Voer river. Named after the white, wrought-iron cross that used to be at the front of the property (‘wit kruis’ means ‘white cross’ in Dutch), the home has been renovated with an eye for style and detail by the homeowners Morgan and Remy Collings. With the help of Remy’s brother and father, they have transformed this property into a unique holiday home with nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms.
Inside
The first room you enter is the ultra low-maintenance and professional catering kitchen. The kitchen also has two long dining tables, where you can enjoy a bite to eat and a drink with your company. The electric fireplace separates the dining area from the sitting area, which has a record player for the vinyl enthusiasts! The frameless door in the original wooden wall leads onto the hall, which leads to two double bedrooms with an en-suite with shower, washbasin, and toilet. One bedroom even has a small, idyllic balcony overlooking the rippling waters of the Voer river! The ground floor also has an indoor bike shed with bike wash station.
The holiday home has nine bedrooms in total and eight bathrooms. Almost all bedrooms have an en-suite bathroom with shower, washbasin, and toilet – only the two bedrooms located on the first floor share a bathroom. All bedrooms are comfortably furnished and tastefully decorated. Rumour has it that the property used to be inhabited by nuns, and the homeowner has sought to reflect this history in the décor. The home shows a clear split between the older part, which has various little staircases, trapdoors, old beams, and mud walls, and the modern part.
Outside
From the kitchen, you can walk over the small bridge that connects the holiday home with the garden area. This is the perfect place to sit on a warm summer’s evening, next to the wood-burning stove, and listen to the gentle waters of the Voer river flow by. You can also enjoy a barbecue – and hot tub! – under the covered terrace. Just imagine it!
Use of the hot tub is by request. The homeowner will ensure that there is clean and heated water in the hot tub.
Business purposes
This property is also ideal for business purposes, such as a workcation or meetings in a unique environment.
Surroundings
As a major nature reserve that is also full of listed buildings, the Voer region is the ideal base for both quiet and active holidays. Hikers and cyclists are in for a treat: bicycles can be rented from the local bicycle dealer, where you can also hire a guide to explore the area together. Restaurants and cafés, the bakery, various shops, and the tourist office are all within walking distance.
